Halloween Release Dates

Gather around the fire, big wigs. We need to have a talk about your horrific timing when it comes to big releases that should be coming out during the Halloween season. For years, the Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror episodes were aired the weekend AFTER Halloween. Huh? Lots of home video releases are still scheduled for similar nut-job release dates.

Let me get straight to the point. Halloween season ENDS on October 31st. If you have a property that fits into the Halloween vibe, release it in early October. It’s easy. You’ll get more sales and more customers will enjoy your spooky material. Win-Win.

I just learned today that the new 4K release of Blade is being released on (drum roll)…December 1st. What was wrong with October 1st, Warner Brothers? I know physical media isn’t as big a deal as it once was, but this release date will apply to 4K HDR streaming as well.

Lots of companies view the Halloween season as a speed bump on their way to Xmas. Nothing against “The Holidays” as they’re often called, but Halloween is my holiday and it needs to get more respect from marketers. Their companies could actually have even better sales if they played their tarot cards right.
